The Song that Rocked WPC

Posted by Lisa Abbott on May 17, 2010

"Woke up from a dream, a voice was telling me...."

If you were at Shakti Butler's keynote at the White Privilege Conference in Wisconsin in April, you were among students and activists on their feet, with voices joined to sing her song of respect, understanding and hope.  Woke Up from a Dream became our theme song for the conference.  We heard it sung in local restaurants and hummed in hallways through out the week.

June is fundraising month for World Trust. Our annual benefit here in Oakland, CA on Sunday, June 27th will feature clips from our new film in progress and there will be plenty of good company.  We know many of you will not be able to be here with us.  Still, we'd like to inspire you to give to sustain our work.  So, check this out:

1. Download the World Trust song, Woke Up from a Dream, (for free) and listen.

2. Take a moment to reconnect to your love for all of humanity and your commitment to racial justice (let the music do it for you).

3. If you are moved to, and are able, please make a contribution to the work of World Trust in any amount by clicking Donate below.
